Introducing our newest columnist: Aaron Leeper
May 12th, 2007 by Progressive Wednesday
Aaron Leeper hails out of Jamestown, New York, the great home of the legendary Lucille Ball. Throughout childhood and on through his teenage years “Leep” was an athlete 24/7 (Yes, he even played sports in his sleep). While rewriting the Jamestown football record book, Aaron led his Red Raiders to their third New York State Football Championship. That year, he broke a New York State record with 47 touchdowns, and received many honors such as; The Buffalo News player of the Year, The Connolly Cup, which is presented to the best high school football player in Western New York, and The USA Today, New York State Player of the Year. In other words, he could hold his own on the gridiron.
After researching many universities, Aaron came to the conclusion that The University of Buffalo would be the best fit for both him and his family. Between trips to the library he could be found at UB Stadium, punishing linebackers and earning the prestigious honor of the Mid American Conference Rookie of the Year. “Leep’s” football future was cut short when he sustained two shoulder injuries, which prompted his decision to “hang up his cleats”. He stuck with his schooling however, and last year received Bachelors of Art in both history and sociology.
Aaron is now living in Buffalo, NY, and is employed by The Big Brother Big Sister Program of Erie County as a Child and Family Advocate, spending time and providing a positive role model for troubled kids. In his spare time he enjoys working out, walking his two dogs (Prada and Classy) and visiting his family.
