“Not so long ago, in a supermarket not so far away.”

We’ve written several times about the benefits of buying organic produce. If you need a refresher, you can check it out here. But, yesterday I stumbled, as us internet researchers so often do, upon an article that said the vast majority of people don’t know what, exactly, organic food is. I was surprised, even more so when I read that it was true even for people who purchase organic food regularly.
For you book worms here’s the definition from the USDA website:
An ecological production management system that promotes and enhances biodiversity, biological cycles and soil biological activity. It is based on minimal use of off-farm inputs and on management practices that restore, maintain and enhance ecological harmony.
Basically, what that means is that there is little, if any chemical residue left by fertilizers, pesticides, fungicides, etc. But that’s boring. Who wants to read that? So, for you fans of Darth Vader, Boba Fett, and Han Solo, here’s a short clip produced by the Organic Trade Association that explains what organic food is and why it is beneficial, all in a setting that is “Not so long ago, in a supermarket not so far away.”
It’s funny, informative, and motivating. Enjoy. Then join the organic rebellion.
