Virginia Tech: How you can help
April 20th, 2007 by Eric
Since this Monday’s tragic shootings at Virginia Tech University, we have had many inquiries into whether or not we would write about it. There is not much that we can add to the conversation right now that hasn’t been said already. To even call it a tragedy seems grossly inadequate. Anyone with half a heart knows that it was nothing short of an affront to humanity.
It’s hard to know what to do during a time of national mourning; the feeling of helplessness can be overwhelming. But there is one small thing we can all do. Virginia Tech has set up the “Hokie Spirit Memorial Fund” to help those directly affected by the shootings. Donations will be accepted and the funds use to cover, among other things:
- Assistance to victims and their families
- Grief counseling
- Memorials
- Communication expenses
- Comfort expenses
So please make a contribution online or you can mail a check to:

It will be important to discuss the larger issues involved, but now is not the time. All we can do is to keep those affected in our thoughts and prayers. And help out where we can.
