A big, fat, not-so-hairy thanks
April 10th, 2007 by Progressive Wednesday
Last month, fellow progressive, John Stuart told you about Kelley Lenfest, a high school student who was planning to shave her head to raise money for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, a group dedicated to improving the quality of life for children with cancer, and, most importantly, finding a cure. Well, on March 25, she did it. All 18-or-so inches of it.
How much was that quick buzz worth? Try a cool grand. That’s right, a thousand smackers. Thanks to Kelley and all those who donated on her behalf, young cancer patients are a thousand dollars more comfortable, have a thousand dollars worth of hope, are a thousand dollars closer to a cure.
So thank you, thank you, and thank you again to all of those who participated in this, or any other St. Baldrick’s event. If you want to get involved with the foundation as a sponsor, shaver, or shavee, visit the website and sign up. Even though Kelley’s head is already shorn, it’s never too late to make progress.
