How to Help Progressive Wednesday

Help Progressive Wednesday

Problem:

We’re a new kid on the Internet block (not to be confused with The New Kids on the Block, everybody’s favorite ‘80s boy band1), and we’re trying to get the word out. And you, friends, could really help out our people-powered-progressive cause. Otherwise, we might resort to more alliteration, and really, who wants that?

Make Progress:

Eight’s as good a number as any, so here goes:

  1. Since you’ve got brains and heart-felt brawn, we’d like to tap into that (the kegs that you are?). So, please do send us the names of progressive bands and artists, ideas, links, topics, and tips. Big ups and thanks in advance.

  1. Is it swag you want? Well, it’s swag you get, baby. You can snag yourself t-shirts, bumper stickers, mugs, garb for your favorite canine, and the 2007 Progressive Wednesday calendar, a compilation of gorgeous images snapped by our photo editor, Bris Robinson.

  1. You really don’t need Yahoo! or Google or CNN as the first thing you see when you fire up your Internet browser. That’s so passé. Why not set ProgressiveWednesday.com as your homepage? (Remember, “because” isn’t enough of an answer.)

  1. If you’re a blogger, you could lend a binary hand and Google bomb with us. Every time you write the words “progressive,” “Wednesday,” “action,” “activism,” and “progress,” you could set a hyperlink to ProgressiveWednesday.com. Our goal is to shock and awe and knock that insurance company, which will remain nameless, from the top spot when folks search for “progressive.” That seems like a word that the insurance bastards companies shouldn’t own.

  1. Every Wednesday we send out reminders to folks that today’s the big day. You can sign up for email and text-message reminders through our sign up page or by shooting us a line. We promise not to give out this information to any individual, advertiser, organization, or company. With your permission, we’ll also send you monthly e-newsletters with updates, links, and other ways you can make progress happen in this here country of ours.

  1. We’ve currently got Model City Street Teams in 13 21 25 states along with the good old District of Columbia. We’re incredibly thankful for the volunteer work these generous folks give us. If you live in one of the states we’ve already got covered, we still need more assistance! If you live in a different state, we’d love having your help because we’re working toward getting teams in every single state.   1. Obviously, we’ve got permalinks on our pages, so you can link to those from your blog, or your blog of choice. You can also pass those links along to your pals. We explain even more about social networking and email our links here.

  1. Send an e-card on behalf of Progressive Wednesday! What better way to say Happy Arbor Day, Birthday, or Professional Women in Drywall Day, than to ship a Progressive Wednesday e-card? Frankly, there isn’t one.
